Kaitiakitanga: Professional Supervision
With more than 23yrs experience in social services; social work, specialist behaviour and therapeutic services, I am pleased to offer Professional Supervision.
My experience is in whānau support, statutory social work as a senior practitioner in the United Kingdom, contract social work in Aotearoa and for the last 10 years, as a Behaviour Specialist with Explore Behaviour and Autism Services, where I also provide clinical supervision to other Specialists. I have specialist knowledge of neurodiversity, disability and behaviour, with specialist knowledge in trauma.
I am also an ACC registered therapist for sensitive claims providing counselling and social work for those who have experienced sexual harm.
I use my lived and professional experiences to support other professionals in safe and reflective practice. My Norfolk Island-whānau values include “Inasmuch”, which reminds us that what we do for others' has a higher purpose
My postgraduate study in Supervision has allowed development and consolidation of my own bicultural model of Kaitiakitanga, interweaving indigenous understanding to my practice.
The story of my ancestors of English and Tahitian descent help me to consider a bicultural journey as way to reflect on how we are to engage in relationships, remembering Mana is central to growth. Āta, Ako and Āhurutanga are the tenets to this model. I draw upon their lessons of careful deliberation, reciprocal learning in developing a safe space. Growth, Mana and Transformation are key in a supervisory process.
